A Better Way Of Life…
Jan 24th
Am off to see Marillion tonight at the KOKO club in London (Camden). I can honestly say I feel like a small child on christmas eve!
I have been a Marillion fan for about 15 years now, and have never seen them live! I have had 4 great opportunities to see them in the last 4 years, and haven’t bothered to go!
They played a ‘Marillion Weekend’ at Pontins in Brean in 2002, and have twice played the same event @ Minehead in 2003 and 2005!? Both of these locations are within 40 miles of my friggin flat! Cost stopped me on the first few and my damn bitch sister got married during the 2005 one (selfish cow!)
I finally bought a ticket to see them on their ‘Marbles’ tour back in 2004, it was for Newport over in wales, but was the nearest UK gig they were doing on that tour. I could get there, but couldn’t drive at the time so had no way of getting back ….so I didn’t go.
All this changes today though!!!! Will take plenty of pics/video and write up a review tomorrow!
Eeeeeeeeeeeeeheeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!
Ron Dennis – The Control Freak
Jan 21st
The Mclaren supremo has proved what a control freak he is by banning Fernando Alonso & Lewis Hamilton for drinking ANY alcohol during the racing season!
Ron Dennis has banned McLaren’s 2007 driver lineup from drinking alcohol.
Despite Ferrari-bound Kimi Raikkonen’s supposed alcoholic indiscretions during his tenure in 2002-2006, the Woking based team’s chairman suggested that the only sips taken by Lewis Hamilton or world champion Fernando Alonso this year should be champagne on the podium.
Proper ..errr …..Album Reviews
Jan 19th
This has to be the best set of album reviews ever!
Some very tongue in cheek and frankly hilarious reviews of the dire Katie Price & Peter Andre album. Haven’t laughed so much in ages!
Wedding Planning
Jan 18th
Plans for the wedding are slowly forming.
It’s currently looking like being April 2008 as we have a 2 week window there where Lucy is off work and we could theoretically get married and have our honeymoon within that window. We are restricted to certain times of the year as Lucy is a teacher, so can hardly book a few weeks off when she feels like it.
We had been toying with the summer of 2008 but there seems little point in delaying it any longer than we have to. We would do it tomorrow if we could!
We have a meeting with a vicar next weekend, he is from the church in the village Lucy grew up in and its quite likely we will marry there, although we haven’t decided anything yet as we want to look around at other options and possibly not even churches.
Lucys parents suggested some of the manor houses in the surrounding area, eg www.rookery-manor.co.uk, so thats a possibility aswell.
Exciting times!
The Web UK
Jan 18th
I renewed my Marillion fanclub subscription just before Christmas, after a lapse of 5 years, and I found a nice thick envelope waiting for me when I got home this afternoon.
Sounds a bit daft being a member of a fanclub at my age, but it really is quite good.
For ?10 a year you get:
- A quarterly magazine packed with exclusive content.
- A free CD every christmas with otherwise unreleased content.
- Access to a members only area of their website, with access to more goodies.
- Discount on some items in their online store.
- Entitlement to attend fanclub only gigs (eg the gig I am going to on the 28th of Jan)
I also got a marillion car sticker
They were also kind and sent me the an extra free issue of the magazine from summer last year. Been busy reading both mags all evening and got really engrossed in them I have to say! It inspired me to queue up a couple of solo offerings by their drummer Ian Mosley, plus arguably their best ever album, ‘Afraid Of Sunlight‘ ..
It has been a very pleasant evenings listening and reading!
Marillion Tickets!

No!!!!!!!!!!

I’ve lost all my MP3’s!!
Whilst merging a partition on the HDD in my server, I have managed to lose 50gb of MP3’s! I ran some recovery software on it, but even though I could find the files I had lost, the recovery just wouldn’t god damn work!
I bit the bullet at about 8pm and gave up. I have now given the HDD a low level format and have been ripping CD’s back to MP3 all evening. I’ve also been scouring the filesharing sites/apps for other albums I have yet to buy (and can’t afford to now I am saving for a wedding and a house!!).
I’d say a good 50% of those MP3’s I didn’t listen to anyway ….so am just trying to recover the things I did.
One thing is for sure …I can’t live without music!
