All The Fun Of The Fair!

We went to a wedding fair on Sunday.

It’s as you might imagine, a selection of stalls from photographers, cake makers, caterers, tailors etc who are all vying for your business. Nothing bad at all, it just seems a bit pointless. Give me a brochure or a magazine any day of the week.

Despite my feelings on the subject, it was quite a positive visit. We got a more definitive idea on what kind of cake we both like (mmm…cake!). I got to see the kinds of suit I would be expected to wear and look at a few samples from various photographers.

We have also received a sample menu from what is looking like our preferred caterer. This is where cost hits home though, for 50-60 guests for the meal after the wedding, we are looking @ over ?1000 … which is crazy money!! It looks likely that we will go down this route though as the menus seemed good and they do provide waiting staff etc.

Seems a bit daft to me to be getting so far into preperations for a day that isnt happening for 14 months, but I am constantly being assured that this is ‘normal’.

If it was left to me, I’d probably try and organise it the week before! :D

The Geek Test

Just did The Geek Test over on MSN and got the following result:

Grounded in real life: Some of these statements seemed outlandish and wrong to you, but you found yourself wondering if maybe there was a little inner geek screaming to be let out to play

Sounds about right 8)

Blackfield Photo’s!

I was having a casual browse of the Blackfield website a few minutes ago, and noticed they have posted pictures from the Mean Fiddler gig in London the other night. So i started to look …2nd picture in and I saw me and Leigh! ..then looked at more and more, and we are in a good 50% of them! :D

Has made my day! …Can you spot me? (handy arrow supplied)

Blackfield Gig - Me & Leigh In Picture!!!

Blackfield – London – 16/02/2007

We got to the venue fairly early and found ourselves near the very front of the queue! This meant we got in really quickly once the doors opened and managed to get a spot right at the front! Yay!!!!!

Before we got in though.. something hilarious happened in the queue. There were a bunch of girls a few places infront of us, they were there for about an hour and had arrived before us. About 20 minutes before the doors opened it became apparent they were queueing at the qrong venue for the wrong band! LOL!!! they scuttled off quite quickly to find the right place ….every few mins thereafter, the same seemed o happen in various other parts of the queue. Was so funny!

Brittas In My Head!

Mr BrittasI’ve been watching a lot of ‘The Brittas Empire‘ over the last week or so, and this morning while reading an article in PC Format I noticed that Gordon Brittas’ voice was in my head, reading the story!

No, I am not a mentalist! but everytime I read, I could hear it being read in his stupid voice! Anyone who has seen the show will know what I mean by ’stupid voice’. Very bizarre!!!!!! :D

Not Looking Good For Honda

Honda seem to be struggling in winter testing this year. Both Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello have been off the pace, averaging a fairly mid grid time throught the whole of winter testing so far.

I hope they are sandbagging, or running with a high level of fuel, otherwise it looks like being another frustrating year for Jenson.

Interestingly, they havent been making their usual, stupid, pre season predictions of challenging for the World Championship aswell.

Time will tell I guess!

Wedding Update

Well, things have gone a little quiet on the wedding front as we have now made the basic plans. The church is booked & the venue for the reception and evening party has been booked…. oh, and the date has been set (of course!) 12th of April 2008 @ 2pm. So, we have about 1 year to prepare for it.

The wedding will take place in Westonzoyland Church. This is in the village that Lucy grew up, so is quite special to her. Interestingly, Westonzoyland is the venue of the last battle to be fought on British soil.

Lucy has been to a couple of wedding fairs, to get some colour and dress inspiration not to mention to suss out prices for the various other things, such as the photographer and caterer. As luck would have it, her friend Becky is also getting married next year, so they are doing a lot of this together …. which gets me out of it! 8)

Besides, I hate fairs …..the rides always make me feel sick! :D
