Going Offline
Jun 28th
I’ll be taking this blog offline later today due to the house move. As it is hosted on my home server it will obviously be unavailable while I move and while I wait for ADSL to be connected to the new place.
I know thats going to seriously annoy the million of visitors I get everyday! (
) so i would like to take this opportunity to apologise for any inconvenience caused and thankyou for your co-operation. (jeez ….that almost feels like a system outtage email I would write in work!
)
See you on the other side!
Almost There!
Jun 27th
Was up @ 6:30am this morning and after Lucy left work I got straight on with the packing. Made quite a lot of progress aswell as this picture suggests!

Unfortunately this isn’t even a quarter of the stuff! It multiplied by 50% after I took the photo and I am still not done! Tomorrow is the last day here, so I suspect I will once again be up early to be getting on with it.
A Random Catchup!
Jun 23rd
Have been really busy preparing for our move next Friday. Thankfully I have all of next week off or it would be quite a push to get everything organised.
We went to Yeovil today and bought a new TV cabinet. Why yeovil? Well my mate Leigh works for a company called Woodberrys, they make furniture and they have a factory outlet in Yeovil. He was working today so asked me to pop over and have a look. The cabinet we wanted was ?85 …not too bad and a fair bit nicer than the crap they have in Argos.
Decided to definately go with Sky Broadband aswell. I am currently paying ?35 a month for my net access, and found I could pay the same to sky for both the tv AND the broadband! AND get free evening and weekend calls. Was a no brainer really! …Went for sky+ aswell which will be cool as we will be losing our current PVR as it has to go back to my current ISP when we cease with them at the end of the month.
We are off out in a bit … Lucys brothers girlfriends 21st birthday party. I need to lager myself up a bit to get enthused methinks! Will be good to get away from the packing though! Strangely, the party is in Glastonbury ….won’t everyone be at the festival?
Marillion – Pyramids, Portsmouth – 09/06/07
Jun 16th
After seeing Marillion rock the Colston Hall in Bristol the day before, I was very excited about seeing them in Portsmouth. I had tentatively planned to go to this gig but hadn’t bought tickets and wasn’t going to decide until the day. However, no decision was needed in the end as I won a competition for 2 free tickets!
I originally asked ‘The Other Half’ to come with me, but she wasn’t keen. I then asked my gig buddy Leigh who I had already semi converted to Marillion through taking him to see them in London back in January. He was well up for it …we even decided to book a hotel for the night so we could have a few beers and really lap up the gig without worrying about the 120 mile drive back afterwards.
Contracts Exchanged!
Jun 16th
Woohoo! We exchanged contracts on the house yesterday! Completion date is now 100% set for the 29th of June, just under 2 weeks away.
I am working next week and am then off for the week prior to the move and for a few days the week after. Plenty of time to sort the last minute things out and ready ourselves for the trek across town.
Our landlord popped around the other night aswell to take a look around (most likely to make sure we hadnt destroyed the place). He congratulated us on the house purchase and presented us with a bottle of Moet champagne! …how many landlords can you say have done that! …. Clive – I thankyou – you are a gent
Marillion – Colston Hall, Bristol – 08/06/07
Jun 9th
Marillion gigs are like buses for me it seems. I go 15+ years of fandom without seeing them live, then in the space of 6 months I have seen them twice and will be seeing them again tonight!
Last nights venue was the Colston Hall in Bristol, a place Marillion haven’t really touched on a tour in quite a while, preferring to skip over the severn bridge and enter the murky depths of Wales instead. Bristol was ideal for me though, as it’s only 40 miles from here!
Completion Date?
Jun 8th
Had a call from my solicitor this morning (at 8:30 in the morning!! a bit early for my day off!
) ……
….she was calling to tell me the sellers solicitors have put forward a potential completion date for the house on the 29th of June. Sounds good, but I asked her to go back and suggest the 25th of June as I have holiday booked from the start of that week, would be even better!
We will happily take the 29th if thats what it boils down to though.
