First Gig Of 2008

As alluded to in a previous post, I have bought tickets to my first gig of this year. I am going to see Pineapple Thief in Bristol on Weds the 9th of April… Yep…. 3 days before my wedding!

I know, i know, seems a bit silly. In my defence though, i was intoxicated when I purchased the tickets. thats a damn fine excuse in my opinion!

It will be good though. Both myself, Leigh and another mate, Paul, are intending to go. The tickets were really cheap (£4.50) and it will be great to see the Thief again as they have just signed their first ‘big’ record deal. They have a new album out in May on the new label, so the gig promises to be a corker.

It should also be a great way of relieving the stress that is undoubtably going to build up in the week approaching the wedding.

I am looking forward to it.

Money Money Money!

Have you seen that BT advert with that bloke from My Family in? The one where he moans about working hard all week and then spending all weekend spending money? … well this weekend I reckon that is most definately the case for me!

Both myself and Lucy went shopping today to get ourselves some new clothes. My wardrobe is always a little old….. I’m just rubbish at buying new clothes and am forever looking like a tramp!

We battled though the rain and wind and both got quite a few things ..then as if we hadn’t spent enough money, we went to asda and did a big grocery shop.

The thought of the money spent is making me wince, I really am that stingy! ….infact it’s so bad that we are going down the pub in a minute for a few beers. Got to be done! :)

Ugggghhhhh!

Six pints of Fosters = hangover the next day … :(

….and the purchase of 3 gig tickets whilst under the influence! … ooops!!

Mmmmmm!!

Six pints of Fosters = good!!! :D

Contacts

I hate my glasses and decided that I wanted new ones for the wedding. So I went looking for some new ones, tried on loads but hated them all.

I quickly came to the conclusion that maybe it would be worth investigating contact lenses. I had always wondered if they would be worth a go but never had a reason or enough motivation to warrant going for the initial consultation.

Anyway, I had that consultation with the optician last week and he gave me 5 days worth to try and see how I get on. I deliberately left it until my week off work so I can adjust to wearing them on a back to back daily basis and today is the second day I have had them in properly for any length of time.

I have to say, it was weird at first! (Infact it still is!) but I am getting used to them. The single weirdest part is putting them in …no amount of positive thinking can seem to stop my eyes from blinking shut when i try and stick my fingers in them! It’s a reflex reaction, i just can’t help it. As such, it is taking a good 20 minutes to even get them in. I thought I had it cracked yesterday as they went straight in with no problems whatsoever, but it was clearly a fluke, as my eyes are virtually bleeding today from the punishment my finger has been giving them!

Vision is a bit different from wearing glasses aswell. I can see, but for a good few hours after I have put the lenses in it’s like there is a layer of film infront of my eyes. Everything is in soft focus. Another way of describing it is to compare it to if you get teary …your eyes welling up, it compromises your vision a bit ..it’s just like that. It does seem to clear up after a while though ……

I’ve got another appointment with the opticians on Friday. I’ll report back exactly what I have mentioned above …but I think i’ll definately give them a proper go for a few months. I don’t want them for everyday wear, just for social occasions as I really am started to hate wearing glasses out and about (which has only been for the last 3 years ..I only wore them at home and work before that).

Watch this space I guess :)

ROFLMFAO!!!!!

Just read this article on Digital Spy and went to the game mentioned ….brilliant!! :D

A computer game based on the Paul McCartney and Heather Mills divorce has been released online.

Titled Splash and Grab, the game involves players taking on the role of Heather Mills and scoring points by throwing water at Sir Paul McCartney and his lawyer, Fiona Shackleton.

Points are deducted if gamers soak the judge by mistake. The more points scored, the more of McCartney’s wealth the player wins.

The game is based on an incident when Mills soaked Shackleton with water after the divorce hearing had ended.

The game can be found at the website Muccachucka.co.uk.

Mills was awarded £24.3 million of Paul McCartney’s fortune at London’s High Court hearing.

Gulp!

The wedding is getting REALLY close now. So close that its feeling more and more ‘real’ by the day. Not that it didn’t feel real beforehand, but we have been planning for over a year now, so it’s quite easy to detatch from it being a reality. It is real though, and in 3 weeks we will be married and on our honeymoon!

Before that is my Stag night. We had originally planned to goto Cardiff for a day of go-karting/paintballing and a night on the piss. We would have stayed over night there and come back the next day. Unfortunately, the cost of all of this kept spiralling and I just wasn’t happy spending the money it would have taken to do it properly. I also find it hard to believe that it matters where you are after a few beers! as long as you are in good company and having a good time.

We are now having the Stag in Taunton, probably starting with a few games of bowling before heading into Taunton itself and drinking the place dry.

Anyone whos coming that reads this – let me warn you now! If you mess with me, try to tie me to a lampost or somehow put me on a train to penzance (or anything stupid like that!) then I am not responsible for my actions …….think on …… ;)

I’m sure the people who really know me well won’t dare anyway! :D Me+alcohol+being messed with = not a good idea!
