New Car / Old Car
May 30th
We bought a car last weekend to replace Lucys tatty old Seat Ibiza. It had done her really well for a good 4 years, but the bonnet had lost most of its paint due to some strange paint infection and it had a few dents and scrapes …it looked like a bag of shite if I am being honest and despite being a good runner, it was embarrasing to drive.
We have now got a 2001 Peugeot 307 1.6 LX 16valve. Its a lot lot nicer than the old Seat, a lot more modern and a lot nicer to drive.
Makes my beloved Pug 306 seem a bit old hat now, but I’ll hang onto that for another year or so, providing the cost of Diesel stops getting stupid! It’s got to be getting close to making Petrol more economical now? I am currently paying close to £60 per fill up, and filling up twice a month!
Speaking of my car, I gave it a much needed oil change the other week. I even changed the oil filter! I also fixed a problem with the windscreen washer (a pipe had fallen off) and fixed a banging noise coming from the back of the car. It turned out to be perished exhaust rubbers …replaced them and hey presto – sorted!
Who needs to check a car into a garage eh? (me soon probably!)
Neglected
May 30th
I’ve really been neglecting this ‘ere blog of late haven’t I? I’ve either been working, really busy or really lazy and despite having tons of mundane crap I could post …I just haven’t found the time or energy to do so.
Must try harder!
Off To Holland
May 12th
Booked my ticket for the 2009 Marillion Weekend the other day! It runs between the 20th and 23rd of March next year, and is in Holland! ……… I know, you’re thinking ‘what the hell is a Marillion Weekend?’, aren’t you?
Well it’s a bi-annual festival run by Marillion, with them headlining for 3 nights. They have numerous support bands, allsorts of other stuff during the day, and it’s all set in the confines of a holiday camp such as Butlins. They have actually done a few previously at Butlins in Minehead which is literally 40 mins down the road from me, although circumstances have always conspired against me and I have never gone to one.
Anyway, the whole appeal for me is that I get to go abroad for the weekend, see my favourite band 3 nights in a row, be in the company of another 4000+ hardcore Marillion fans like me, and to have an almighty piss up every night (and possibly day!).
I am going with my mate Leigh and we are sharing a 4 berth cottage/apartment with 2 chaps we have never met before. That is also part of the charm tbh …everyone generally shares accomodation, so it’s a great way to meet more like minded people. Providing they aren’t axe murderers!
It’s gonna be great!
