New Car

The gearbox on our main car is on it’s way out and we were recently quoted a price of around £850 to get it replaced (along with the clutch & driveshaft). Obviously this is not news we wanted or needed and over the last few weeks we have been mulling over what to do.

Getting it fixed was a possibility, but that seemed like such a lot of money. We figured we would start looking around for another car and trade ours in against one we liked. We initially started looking at relatively new second hand cars, eg 3-4 years old, prices of the cars we were interested seemed quite high though. Then one night we were watching TV and an advert came on for a car that along with the government scrappage scheme, cost just £5,000! So I did a bit of investigating and found we could probably get a decent mid sized family car with quite a discount as the car dealers are pretty keen to sell at the moment.

I use an old battered Pug 306 to get to work and back. It’s only 3 door, and nearing the end of it’s life having done almost 180,000 miles! It seemed a no brainer that we should use this for the scrappage scheme and get ourselves a brand new car. It’s definately the only way the car was going to be worth £2000! I’d estimate it’s actual value to be approx £3-400!

My Daughter, The F1 Fan!

I was watching the Belgian Grand Prix the other day whilst also trying to entertain my 3 month old daughter. Sat her down in her chair and within seconds she was leaning towards the TV to watch the grand prix. I captured the below video about 20 minutes after she first started taking an interest, so the yawn at the end doesn’t count ..nor does the fact she fell asleep about 5 minutes later!
